Itinerary

Day 1

View an 800-year old Kauri tree and take a short walk through native Kauri bush. Visit the internationally famous Hundertwasser Toilet, the only building in the Southern Hemisphere designed by the Austrian born artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Arrive in Paihia, the birthplace of NZ and the entrance to 144 islands in the Bay of Islands. Check in to the accommodation. This afternoon we take an awesome ferry to what was once New Zealand’s capital – Russell (Kororareka). Experience picturesque beaches and history.

Day 2

Check out of lodge and put your bags on the bus. Take part in optional activities, see “Additional Info” above. These will be explained to you by your guide on Saturday. If you just want to chill and relax, Paihia Beach is a fabulous and safe place to swim or you can do one of the many well-signposted, scenic walks along the coast or through the bush. Enjoy a great selection of restaurants and eateries. LUNCH: Make your own arrangements for lunch based on the time between your activities. After a great morning, we venture back to Auckland.
